English National Jazz Orchestra (ENJO) is the UK's freshest, most exciting and forward-thinking contemporary music project.
English National Jazz Orchestra is developing a top-class, professional Big Band, drawn from some of the best up and coming jazz musicians and will deliver, through our ENJO Academy system, a unique and excellent programme of coaching, mentoring and performance opportunities for learner players and developing jazz players of all ages and previous experience. English National Jazz Orchestra is working with new, home-grown composers and arrangers as premiering new music and encouraging interest and development in writing new jazz material is a cornerstone of our project. ENJO Academy programme runs in London on a choice of two evenings per week, Thursday evening Big Band sessions in Enfield and Friday evening Jazz Orchestra sessions in Southgate, London N14. ENJO also runs a daytime Wednesday morning jazz Workshop in Highgate, London N6. Each ENJO Academy rehearsal evening is graded, with overlapping big band sessions for learners, developing players and professional-standard musicians and staffed by experienced jazz educators and performers. ENJO Academy students are able to rehearse alongside professional-standard players and receive close coaching and mentoring to accelerate progress. ENJO Enfield Big Band Workshop meets on Thursday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at Celebration Hall, St Michael & All Angels Church, Chase Side (entrance in Gordon Hill), Enfield EN2 0PQ.
